Christmas In July ~ Quilted Card Tutorial

What a better time than now to get your Christmas gifts and decorations started so you will have lots of time come November and December for other holiday planning, shopping and visiting with your loved ones!

I have a great scrap using project to share! Why not make your Christmas Cards for this year!

Supplies:
1. Heavy Duty Blank cards (or you can make your own with card stock).
2. A sewing machine
3. Fabric Choices
4. Heat n Bond Lite Iron on Adhesive
4. Scissors
5. Colorful threads
6. Stabilizer paper or tissue paper to place underneath your fabric while sewing
7. An iron    
8. Desired Embellishments


Pattern is from Jennifer Ofenstein / sewhooked@gmail.com at Sew Hooked and she was so 
generous in giving permission for use in my Christmas Card~ Please go visit her and see all of her 
lovely work. And find her "Sweet Sue" pattern Here. Note that I have adapted it for applique
 shapes instead of her paper paper pieced instruction.

                    I placed the entire mini quilt on to the card stock directly and stitched an outline around                                                           each applique shape.


So the back of the card will have the stitch lines as well. You can leave it as is or cover with another piece of paper which permits you to write your own special note. I wish to leave it as is for an additional design element.


Trim out the edges of your card stock to have a beautifully uniform card. Other options are to use the folded card stock. This one will be used as a window in a framed card so the recipient can remove it for framing if they wish.



Tips:
Place stabilizer paper underneath the fabric before you sew to keep fabric from bunching up.
Drop the feed dogs on the machine and use a darning foot to be able to "free motion" sew.
The more colorful the thread, the more design element is added to your card.
Iron after sewing to make card look crisp and flat.

Summer Pineapples!!!! Happy 4th Of July!!!!

Setting goals for myself with Elm Street Quilts each month has created a whirlwind of activity and production in my sewing area. And makes me happy~

Browsing through some fantastic blogs, I ran across  Amanda at Jedi Craft Girl. She created the most adorable pattern for a pineapple quilt and it is free~ You can find her and the pattern Here.
