All About Strings Blog Hop ~

Day 3 of the All About Strings Blog Hop!

Rules - There are no rules - with exception to use up your strings, the strips of fabric generally less than 2.5" in width. Most of mine are not very long. I have mostly snippets of fabric left when trimming, or those selvage edges, so I made an attempt at using both and came up with two small pretties.

My first was a fun thread block made into a table mat. No pattern, just improvised with what was in the scrap basket. Even the binding was snippets from the scrap basket.
The second was made of sewing a few selvage strips and trimming into a square for a sweet little tea mug rug. (I must confess, the binding for this one was a pre-packaged binding I found on discount).  I am adoring these colors and prints from Flora and Faun by Amanda Herring for Riley Blake Designs for my spring sewing this year!

All This week there will be fabulous projects, ideas to share and possibly some give aways. Join Carla at Creatin in The Sticks and all of her hosts this week at All About Strings Blog Hop!

Scrap Basket Finds ~

I like to pick up the snippets of fabrics I find here and there, at yard sales, the vintage markets or thrift boutiques. Mostly they will go into a smaller scrap basket and I challenge myself to make things out of the basket.

In keeping with making out of the scrap basket  ~ I found these already hand-sewn together with a couple of extra cut out. I only need to sew one end to finish the set and I will be making a little's quilt with it.

The fabrics look and feel vintage, they needed squared up, fashioned into some kind of arrangement and stitched together. The chosen sashing and border is a coordinating light turquoise used to increase the size.
If you have any special ideas to help me use up those tidbits in my scrap basket journey, let me know!
I will be sharing my finish soon!
