Welding Cap - One Monthly Goal August

I am following everyone along at Elm Street Quilts to see what they've challenged themselves to complete in August. You can find my Challenge story here. It is my desire to learn to piece a welding cap together. Well...... That was a huge fail this go around. I finished it, but got lost somewhere in my constructing steps. Let's Just Say... It isn't necessarily a welding cap like everyone else's.

I started with this....

And started de-constructing to find a pattern in it.

I came up with this.

Definitely a project in the making. I will have to try this again and possibly read a tutorial or watch some videos.

Thanks for any encouragement, I really want to learn ;)

That Chair~

I want to paint it white, My sweet husband wants it sanded and restained.... Grrrrr - Frustration noise coming from me~

I changed out the discolored fabrics to a nice green to match the rest of the room. I never tacked it down.

Because I really want the wood to be white! What do your think???? Could I get away with a super dark walnut and change the fabrics yet again to a nice neutral?

Welder Cap- My OMG Sewing Challenge

In addition to all of the other projects I have going on, I wanted to add this one to the mix.

My husband wears these.....Seriously... worn out, holes... not to mention how difficult they are to get them to smell clean during laundering.

I've searched around and not found a true pattern that I could purchase so ..... My hopes are to remake a pattern and sew one of these up that actually fits his head.  The curves are going to be my challenge I do believe.

Wish me much courage and patience for my August OMG!

P.S. Just so I can throw out all the raggedy caps!
