Welding Cap - One Monthly Goal August

I am following everyone along at Elm Street Quilts to see what they've challenged themselves to complete in August. You can find my Challenge story here. It is my desire to learn to piece a welding cap together. Well...... That was a huge fail this go around. I finished it, but got lost somewhere in my constructing steps. Let's Just Say... It isn't necessarily a welding cap like everyone else's.

I started with this....

And started de-constructing to find a pattern in it.

I came up with this.

Definitely a project in the making. I will have to try this again and possibly read a tutorial or watch some videos.

Thanks for any encouragement, I really want to learn ;)

  1. Looks good. Courageous to try without a real pattern. You'll get it!

  3. I really admire your tenacity in working from a pattern of a real object. Way beyond me so I can only be impressed. Hope you keep going and find other patterns but look good to me.

  4. You have an original that no one else will have. Good on you for sticking with it and ending up with a result.

    1. Thank you, although I am anxious to keep the mistakes in mind to make it better each go-round.

  5. It still looks good, though! Is that reversible, then? Wow!
